Ontario Fire Swim Training

Ontario Fire Swim Test Training

Becoming a firefighter in Ontario demands strength, composure, and proven aquatic competency. Tactical Aquatics provides specialized, professional swim training designed specifically for candidates preparing for the Ontario Fire Administration Inc. (OFAI) Swim Test—a mandatory assessment for many fire departments across the province.

Our training is built around the exact standards of the OFAI Swim Test, which includes two consecutive components:

1. Ten‑Minute Tread Water Test

Candidates must remain vertical, unassisted, with their head fully above water for the full duration.

We train you to:

  • Maintain efficient, sustainable treading techniques

  • Stay calm under fatigue

  • Avoid common errors that lead to warnings or automatic failure (touching walls, floating on your back, submerging, or switching to swimming)

2. 100‑Metre Swim (4 lengths) in Under 5 Minutes

Any stroke is permitted as long as forward progress is continuous.

We help you:

  • Choose the stroke that best matches your strength and endurance

  • Build speed, efficiency, and breathing control

  • Avoid disqualifying actions such as standing, grabbing the wall, or stopping progress

What Tactical Aquatics Offers

  • Professional coaching from an aquatic leader with advanced technical expertise

  • Technique correction, endurance building, and scenario‑based practice

  • Clear, structured progressions tailored to your current ability

  • Realistic mock assessments that mirror OFAI expectations

  • Confidence‑focused training so you walk into test day prepared, calm, and capable

Whether you’re a strong swimmer looking to sharpen your performance or someone who needs foundational support before attempting the test, Tactical Aquatics provides a safe, supportive, and professional environment to help you succeed.

Who This Training Is For:

  • Applicants preparing for the OFAI Swim Test

  • Individuals pursuing a career as a firefighter in Ontario
